Ancient Egypt Race Controversy—Egypt in its African Context

According to many scholars, the unrelenting debates over the racial identity of ancient Egyptians were by and large a product of opulence, social status and scientific racism that went into full swing around the 18th and 19th centuries and it was associated with racial hierarchy that was centered on skin color, phenotype, hair textures, and genetic affiliations. Several of these terms were cloaked with words like Caucasoid, Negroid, Congoid, Mongoloid, Capoid, and Australoid and when assertions circulated about the racial identity of ancient Egyptians, several of these terms were used, but the assertions were focused on the distinction between Caucasoid and Negroid and never the racial identity of ancient Egyptians. It appears that scholars and non-scholars were focused on portraying themselves as the ancestors of ancient Egyptians and not learning the true racial identity of ancient Egyptians. That explains why there are unrelenting debates about the racial identity of ancient Egyptians in the 21st century.
